Arsenic is found naturally in many parts of the UK and Ireland and with the lowering of the European drinking water standards for arsenic it's removal is vital. The contaminated water passes through robust granular Bayoxide media developed for Severn Trent Water. As the water travels through the media the arsenic is absorbed and removed to a level below the drinking water standard. This treatment is a very cost effective way of removing arsenic.

A DWI approved Media |
How does it work? |
The Arsenic is absorbed and held by the bayoxide media so the water passing out has the Arsenic removed. Eventually the media will have adsorbed as much as it can and will need to be replaced but this normally takes years. When the system washes the Arsenic is held within the media and does not go down the drain. |
Maintenance |
Periodically visually check the system over to check nothing has changed. Make sure the drain line is free from kinks. If possible every few months watch a backwash to make sure the waste water flows nicely to drain. Every year or so the valve will need to be serviced by a professional and Arsenic levels checked to make sure that the media still has capacity left. |
